What we do

Gutela is a general store run from Wayne, Pennsylvania. We sell practical goods for everyday life across a range of categories rather than committing to a single niche, because the things people actually need in a week rarely come from one aisle.

How we choose what to sell

Breadth is the easy part of a general store. Restraint is the hard part. Our rule is that a product has to answer a real question — does this do its job well, will it last, and would we keep it ourselves — before it goes on the site. That means our collections grow slowly and stay smaller than they could be. We think that is the right trade.

Who we are for

People who would rather buy one good version of something than three cheap ones. Customers who want a clear price, a delivery estimate that turns out to be true, and a return policy that reads like it was written to be used rather than to be argued with.

How we work

Shipping is free on every order, with no minimum and no surprise handling fee. Delivery takes 4-12 business days and we say so on every page rather than burying it. Returns are open for 30 days from delivery. If something goes wrong, you get a person at support@gutela.com who answers within 24 hours on business days — not a ticket number.

What we will not do

You will not find countdown timers on this store, or stock counters warning you that only two remain, or a permanent sale that is not really a sale. Those techniques exist to rush a decision. We would rather you took your time and came back than felt hurried into an order you regret.

Where we are going

Our aim is to become the store people check first for the ordinary things — the kind of shop where the selection is small enough to trust and broad enough to be useful. We are early in that, and we would rather grow carefully than quickly.
